Southeastern NC islands and coast digging out from 10 to 17 inches of snow — see snowfall totals

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WNCN) — Southeastern North Carolina beaches were hit by nearly 18 inches of snow in the snowstorm that moved through this weekend — scroll down for snowfall totals for Brunswick and New Hanover counties.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington reported the total in that city is the most in nearly 40 years — since the 1989 snowstorm.

The snow totals are nearly unheard of at many of the coastal locations, such as island communities like Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, and Surf City. All three had at least 10 inches of snow…
