Providence, Rhode Island – Bitter cold and strong winds are expected to grip Rhode Island beginning Saturday, Feb. 8, setting up several days of hazardous winter conditions that could affect travel, utilities, and outdoor safety across the state.

According to the National Weather Service, a surge of Arctic air will move into southern New England from Feb. 8 through Tuesday, Feb. 11, with sustained winds driving wind chill values well below zero at times.
