SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A jury convicted 28-year-old Brennan Wakey of manslaughter and tampering with evidence Friday in connection with the December 2021 death of 24-year-old Colton Wright at a Hyatt Place hotel.
The verdict came after approximately seven hours of deliberation, ending a case that stretched nearly four years through legal delays and courtroom proceedings.
A housekeeper discovered Wright’s body with a fatal gunshot wound inside the Sarasota hotel in December 2021. Surveillance footage allegedly showed Wright and Wakey entering the hotel together the night before, and later captured Wakey leaving with a gun in his waistband…
