Slick roads, Cold Weather Advisory in Triad on Monday morning

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the FOX8 viewing area until 10 a.m. Travel is going to be slick and drivers should be extremely careful if they must be on the road.

A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the FOX8 viewing area until 9 a.m. Wind chills may be as cold as 2 to 5 degrees this morning, so make sure you are dressed appropriately.

So far, we have tied the record low of 6 degrees set in 1989.

It’s Groundhog Day, and we’re all hoping Punxatawny Phil doesn’t see his shadow… bring on Spring!

Unfortunately, we face temperatures this week that will be well below normal. The average high is 51 degrees, and the warmest we will be this week is 45 degrees. On the bright side, highs are going to be above freezing every day!

Skies will stay clear today until mid-afternoon when some scattered clouds develop. We will see temperatures climb above freezing by early afternoon, with a high of 37 degrees.

Clouds will increase tonight and lows will be near 20 degrees…
