TN deputies rescue two children from icy pond

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WREG) — According to officials, two children were rescued from an icy pond at an apartment complex in West Tennessee on Friday evening.

News 2’s sister station, WREG, had crews on the scene who saw trucks from the Shelby County Fire Department and deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at the Southwind Lakes apartments near East Shelby Drive.

Officials said early information shows the two boys, ages 7 and 12, were walking on what they thought was a solid iced-over pond. Deputies said the ice cracked and the children fell into the icy water…
