Murfreesboro’s Community Development Team Helps First-Time Local Homebuyers!

MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) – Murfreesboro residents looking to buy their first home may find the path a little easier thanks to the City’s Community Development Department, which continues to expand its Affordable Housing Assistance program for low–and moderate‑income families.

Assistant Director Jessica Cline explains, “The Community Development’s mission is rooted in partnership—working alongside local nonprofits, housing agencies, and federal programs to help residents meet housing, economic, and everyday living needs. Much of the department’s work is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which supports Affordable Housing Assistance, Homeowner Rehabilitation, and Public Service Grants.”

For first‑time homebuyers, the Affordable Housing Assistance program can be a game‑changer. It helps eligible families cover down payment and closing costs, lowering monthly mortgage payments and making homeownership more attainable.
