URochester receives $111M for laser laboratory

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The University of Rochester is receiving $111 million towards its Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE).

URochester says the funding will go towards critical updates and restarting major sustainment projects for the Omega Laser Facility. The facility is the largest university-based Department of Energy laser facility.

WHY ROC: EvolvOptic and Laboratory for Laser Energetics

The funding is the largest annual funding level in LLE’s history. URochester says it represents a 17% increase from last year.
