South Florida Braces for Cold Snap, Palm Beach County Opens Shelters as Temperatures Plunge

As a chill descends upon South Florida, Palm Beach County is bracing for temperatures that are set to dip well below the usual subtropical comfort. According to official statements, the National Weather Service has projected very cold temperatures arriving Saturday night and persisting through Monday, with lows ranging from the mid to upper 20s around Lake Okeechobee to the lower to upper 30s along the coast.

Wind chills, bringing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia with prolonged exposure, will follow suit, hovering from the upper teens to low 20s around Lake Okeechobee to the lower 20s along the east coast region. In preparation, the Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management activated their Emergency Operations Center to a Level III – Enhanced Monitoring and is set to open cold weather shelters began yesterday at 7:00 P.M.
