JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – RePublic Charter Schools hosted “Welcome to My Block” on Saturday. It was a celebration inspired by Black Wall Street and brought the Two Mississippi Museums to life as a community space.
Vendors shared their work, students performed and families explored together. The event celebrated Black-owned businesses and community.
“We run schools rooted in love, achievement, and belongingness. And so, this is just a nod to the belongingness, right? And so, wanting everybody to know, regardless if you have children to send to our school or if you’re a community partner with services that our families can, that you belong in the fabric of our public schools,” said Dr. Jasmine Thornton, chief Scholar and Family Experience officer at RePublic Charter Schools…
