A Madison-based nonprofit is rejecting a proposed $2.4 million contract with the local public health department to operate a substance abuse clinic following public criticism of the application, funding process, suggested location and other concerns.
The Board of Health, which oversees the public health department, had previously tabled a vote on the proposed contract with CAYA Clinic to hear more public comment at its meeting last month.
Some community members now want to move forward with a new application process so a clinic can be created, while others want public health leaders to reevaluate how the county plans to fund the clinic altogether.
