Wolf activity confirmed in Truckee, residents urged to stay alert

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Truckee residents and visitors should be aware that wolf activity has been recorded in the area, according to the Truckee Police Department.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) recently updated its wolf tracking map to include reports near Truckee.

Authorities say the information is being shared for community situational awareness, and they encourage the public to take basic safety precautions:

  • Pet owners should closely supervise animals, particularly during early morning and evening hours.
  • Livestock owners are advised to implement protective measures for their animals.
  • Members of the public should not approach, feed, or attempt to harass wildlife.
