Stop sign violation leads to meth, heroin trafficking arrest

Steffany Borts, 51, of Marietta, is accused of trafficking meth and heroin, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

Borts, who was driving a gray Kia Sorento, failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Mosley and Clay Roads in Austell, at 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 20, 2024. During a traffic stop at the intersection of Clay Road and Wingfield Drive in Austell, six transparent baggies with a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine and a digital scale were found in a green purse underneath the driver seat. The total weight was 154 grams, according to the warrant.

A search warrant was executed at 7 p.m. on a residence at 2524 Knoll Road SE in Smyrna. Multiple bags of crystal methamphetamine and containers of liquid methamphetamine were found inside. The approximate weight of the methamphetamine was 8,669 grams. A clear plastic bag containing heroin was also located in the bedroom of the residence. The total weight was 18.4 grams. Also found were multiple bags containing MDMA pills, the total weight was six grams; and multiple bags of psilocybin mushrooms and a psilocybin chocolate edible, the total weight of the psilocybin was 25 grams, according to the warrant…
