Moving Stuyvesant Plaza bookstore to host ‘book brigade’

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An independent bookstore in Stuyvesant Plaza is seeking volunteers to help it relocate to a new storefront in the plaza. On Thursday, The Book House is hosting a ceremonial “book brigade” on February 5 at 9 a.m. at its new store.

The Book House’s new store is 100 yards away from its soon-to-be former location, and needs some help with moving a selection of its titles to the new shop. At the brigade, volunteers will form a human chain and pass books from hand to hand until the books reach the new storefront.

The bookstore is relocating next to Athleta, in the same space where it opened four decades ago. Officials at Stuyvesant Plaza said The Book House is set to reopen at its new location on February 10, with a spring celebration planned.
