(WJBF) – Despite the chill, the Riverwalk is seeing visitors, and one out-of-towner said looking good is important.“Overall, I can say it’s a beautiful area, beautiful area, more trimming and more cleaning because I see the trees falling around, but it’s a beautiful area,” Andria Georgiou from Cypress.The job of sweeping leaves at the Riverwalk belongs to the Park Department, but taking care of cemeteries is a different department. Landscaping at government buildings is another different department.Overgrown abandoned lots, yes, that’s a different department.Right of ways? Another city department.That’s why some Commissioners say it’s time for a new vegetation maintenance department.“It would beautify Augusta to have one department instead of a bunch of different departments going out there and zigzag cutting.
