Sidney Eskenazi, Indianapolis philanthropic leader, dies weeks after wife’s passing

INDIANAPOLIS — Sidney Eskenazi, an Indianapolis philanthropic leader and one of the namesakes of Eskenazi Hospital, died over the weekend at 95.

According to his obituary, Sidney Eskenazi passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, Jan. 31, just weeks after his wife, Lois, who died Jan. 4.

“Sidney Eskenazi was a remarkable man – humble, hardworking and generous,” Eskenazi Health said in a statement on its website. “He was a steadfast champion of Eskenazi Health who understood and believed profoundly in our mission to care for all.”…
