Illegal skimming devices removed from Cleveland businesses as part of Secret Service outreach operation

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – As part of a nationwide crackdown of Electronic Benefit Transfer fraud and payment card skimming, the U.S. Secret Service removed illegal skimming devices in Cleveland in late January.

The outreach was conducted in multiple cities, including Cleveland, Cincinnati, Seattle and Denver.

According to a release from the U.S. Secret Service, teams also contributed educational materials about EBT fraud and skimming to businesses to help them better identify the warning signs of illegal skimming devices…
