The last report from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency says there have been 23 weather-related deaths in Cheatham, Davidson, Dyer, Fayette, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Hickman, Knox, Obion, and Shelby counties.
The Tennessee National Guard has been deployed to help with cleanup efforts in several Tennessee counties, such as Henderson, Davidson, and Hardin. The TNG has been working with local agencies like TDOT and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.
As far as school goes, some parents and kids are ready to get back in session. Amari McNeal goes to school in Jackson and is about ready to come back.
“It’s been fun, but it’s also getting boring too. Because, you know, at this age, you get kind of, how can I put it? You like your friends more than you used and you like school more,” said McNeal.
The Jackson-Madison County School System has provided parents and students with a Winter Break Academic and Wellness Survival Kit, which kids can engage with to keep practicing what they have been learning.
