Yet more Valley fog on this Groundhog Day

The movie Groundhog Day is a 1993 Bill Murray classic where he plays a weatherman covering the Groundhog Day events in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania over and over and over and over again. So it feels appropriate that on this Groundhog Day, our weather is going to be something we’ve seen over and over and over again lately: Thick morning fog, which will give way to hazy afternoon sunshine. That should continue through most of this week, although by Friday we may finally see the fog begin to break down.

Fresno’s newest (only?) groundhog, Maple, already made her forecast last Saturday, which was for an early Spring. The Fresno Chaffee Zoo adopted Maple last Summer from a zoo in Oregon that was shut down. I hope she’s right, but computer models are forecasting things that may make you question rodent forecasters.

There won’t much change in our weather through Thursday, as thick night and morning low clouds and fog along with hazy afternoon sunshine will continue…
