Early on Saturday morning, a serious multi-vehicle accident occurred on I-69 Southbound near mile marker 302, which resulted in two people being pinned inside their vehicle. The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) reported to the scene around 6:42 AM, as explained in a recent press release from the Public Information Officer, Anthony Krock.
When FWPD officers arrived, they found the crash site and immediately determined that two individuals required urgent extrication; the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) was quick on the scene to perform this task, as the two injured parties were subsequently transported to a local hospital, now the traffic was heavy and slow moving around the area due to the collision, and the authorities were working to clear the wreckage even as they encouraged drivers to avoid that stretch of the interstate.
The condition of the victims was updated upon their arrival at the hospital, with the male occupant listed in non-life-threatening condition while the female occupant’s condition was unfortunately deemed life-threatening.
