The New York City nurses’ strike has entered its fourth week as union representatives return to the bargaining table Monday after both sides recently issued altered proposals to settle the ongoing contract dispute.
Approximately 15,000 nurses from Mount Sinai, New York-Presbyterian, and Montefiore Hospital systems remain on picket lines, fighting for better staffing ratios and protections from workplace violence. The situation intensified Sunday when healthcare coverage was cut off for thousands of striking Montefiore nurses.
