Three weather-related deaths confirmed in Knox County after ice storm

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Tennessee’s death toll following the powerful winter storm that swept across the country from January 23 to January 26 has risen to 25, with three weather-related fatalities in Knox County now confirmed.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency announced the confirmation of the first weather-related fatality in Knox County on January 27. A second fatality was disclosed on Sunday and the latest update from TEMA released on Monday included confirmation of a third.

Details about the weather-related deaths in Knox County have not been disclosed. However, the Knox County Forensic Center previously told 6 News they reported three potentially weather-related fatalities to the state: a 29-year-old man found outside near Asheville Highway on Jan. 26, a 38-year-old man found in a backyard on Jan. 26 on Adair Drive, and a 72-year-old woman who died at UT Medical Center after possible prolonged exposure at Sevierville Pike residence on Jan. 26…
