Ceiling collapse at StoryPoint senior home displaces dozens

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A burst pipe at senior living community StoryPoint East Lansing has forced dozens of residents to temporarily relocate.

Fire officials tell 6 News the incident happened Saturday, when extreme cold led to frozen pipes at the facility. Those pipes later burst, causing significant water damage and spreading water through nearly half of the building.

“That pipe caused the ceiling to come down in two, maybe three apartments, as it were, but there was a lot of water flowing out,” said Meridian Township Fire Marshal Tavis Millerov. “And that caused a considerable amount of damage to the point where they needed to move some residents out about half of the building.”…
