FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — The restrooms in the lobby of the Fall River Police Department will no longer be open to the public.
In a social media post, the department said there have been multiple incidents where the drains have been clogged with medicine packaging and trash. The blockages have reportedly caused plumbing problems throughout the building and “required repeated servicing.”
Police also noted that drug paraphernalia has been found in the restrooms on multiple occasions and historic wooden benches were “smeared with human fecal matter” and needed to be replaced with plastic seating.
“While many individuals use our facilities respectfully and appropriately, the repeated misuse by a small number of people has created serious health and safety concerns,” the department wrote in the post. “It is not fair to the general public, including children, nor to our custodial staff to be subjected to these conditions on a regular basis.”…
