TOWN OF BELOIT, Wis. — A person claiming to work for Spectrum has scammed multiple people, the Town of Beloit Police Department said Monday afternoon.
The scam alert alleges that the suspect calls victims, claiming their monthly bill can be reduced if they purchase a new cell phone. Once the victim receives the phone, they are instructed to mail it back to the company to activate the discount and are provided with a return label.
Police noted that the return labels are typically addressed to P.O. boxes across the country and have no association with Spectrum. Victims end up purchasing the phones legitimately and are billed for them by Spectrum…
