Southtown eatery La Focaccia Italian Grill permanently shut down over the weekend, ending a 30-year run with final service on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Luigi “Domenic” Ciccarelli, the son of restaurant founder Luigi Ciccarelli announced the closure last week in a Facebook post thanking diners for the support and urging them to stop by to enjoy their favorites one last time.
The younger Ciccarelli suggested his retirement was imminent in a 2016 Express-News article. At the time, he said he was looking to sell La Focaccia, 800 S. Alamo St., in an all-or-nothing deal that would include the land, building and business so he could enjoy a quieter life…
