Diners around the City Park neighborhood have gained some notable options for Chinese food over the last several months, with the additions of Magic Noodle House on East 17th Avenue, Hong Kong Station 3 at East Colfax Avenue and Gaylord Street and Ma’s Kitchen at Colfax and York, which just announced some big plans to kick off 2026.
Ma’s Kitchen brought dim sum to the area last October, when it debuted in the former Tacos Tequila Whiskey space. It’s owned by brothers Xi Nuan Zheng and Xi Yong Zheng and was located next door to Xi Yong’s long-running Japanese eatery, Okinawa. But as we rang in the new year, Okinawa shut its doors.
It turns out the space won’t be closed for long, as the Zheng brothers plan to use it to expand Ma’s Kitchen into a more elevated, evening-focused version of the concept, dubbed Ma’s Kitchen: Dim Sum, Noodles & Bar. The current Ma’s Kitchen will transition to Ma’s Kitchen | Next Door, a “streamlined, casual model focused on quick bites, takeout, and grab-and-go favorites,” according to a press release.

The more upscale Ma’s Kitchen, which is expected to debut in mid-February, will offer a “moodier dining experience designed for lingering, date nights and shared plates.” It will be open on weekdays from 3 to 10 p.m., with happy hour available from 3 to 6 p.m. Both lunch and dinner will be offered on weekends from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with plans to stay open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays in the summer.
The menu will be similar to Ma’s Kitchen’s current offerings, with the addition of expanded dim sum items, an Asian fusion menu and a full bar and cocktail program led by Alisha Taylor, formerly of the Devil’s Drink. The bar will be central to the new iteration of Ma’s, and is described as the “heartbeat” of the new space.
The design will be dark and moody, featuring a custom indoor mural by Chelsea Lewinski that will “honor the family’s story and the neighborhood it calls home,” and will be the artist’s final major work in the Mile High before she relocates to Las Vegas…
