SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 2, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Three Unified Police Department officers involved in the fatal shooting of a Midvale man in May were cleared of wrongdoing Friday.
According to Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill, the DA’s office determined the officers used justifiable force when they shot and killed Dustin Pearson, 32, as he approached them with a knife in the parking lot of the Sportsman’s Warehouse at 157 W. 7200 South.
