If you’ve spent any time in the Beehive State, you know that we have some pretty extraordinary dining establishments, including some of the best hidden restaurants in the U.S. We really have it all—from hole-in-the-wall eateries to barbecue joints and even fine-dining restaurants. To help you enjoy many of the delicious dishes served around the state, here are 12 of the best restaurants in Utah. Enjoy one of these bucket-list worthy eateries each month of the year. As you’ll soon learn, visiting each of these restaurants is definitely a goal worth making happen!
January: The Summit, Snowbird Ski Resort
Enjoy a beautiful aerial tram ride to reach this mountaintop restaurant. The Summit at Snowbird Ski Resort sits on top of Hidden Peak at 11,000 feet, and you’ll find all types of delicious and healthy dishes as well as a large selection of local microbrews. The Summit offers snacks and beverages daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but for a hot lunch, you’ll need to stop in between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
February: Maddox Ranch House, Perry
Located in Perry, just outside of Brigham City, is Maddox Ranch House, one of Utah’s best steakhouses. As you’ll see, it features a ranch house-style atmosphere with some delicious entrees. We highly recommend the turkey steak or the fried chicken. Just be careful you don’t stuff yourself with the house rolls and raspberry butter before your meal even arrives. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Closed on Sunday and Monday.
March: The Dodo Restaurant, Sugarhouse Park
The Dodo Restaurant is one of the larger Utah restaurants. It has multiple places to eat, including a dining room, bar, and patio. The menu is extensive at this restaurant, so give yourself plenty of time to choose your meal. Just make sure you save room for one of the award-winning desserts by Pastry Chef Ramon. The Dodo Restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Brunch is available on weekends from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
April: Angie’s, Logan
You haven’t been to Logan until you’ve eaten at Angie’s. This restaurant has been a favorite place to eat in Cache Valley since 1983 and serves many home-cooked, American favorites, including breakfast dishes like omelets, scones, and egg scrambles. As one of the best restaurants in Utah, Angie’s is also home to the Kitchen Sink Ice Cream Challenge, where you’ll experience indulging in a three-pound ice cream sundae with all the works. Therefore, bring your appetite and your sweet tooth when you dine at this hidden gem in Utah! Angie’s Restaurant opens daily at 7 a.m. Closes at 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
May: Ray’s Tavern, Green River
Ray’s Tavern is a hole-in-the-wall joint that’s one of the best hidden restaurants in Utah, and has been around since 1943. You’ll want to try one of the tasty burgers or steaks on the menu when you dine at this Utah restaurant. Be sure to arrive early as this restaurant in Green River becomes quite busy during the lunch and dinner hours. Ray’s Tavern is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
June: Blatch’s BBQ, Salt Lake City
Although some might find it hard to believe, one of Utah’s highest-rated BBQ joints is meat-free. Blatch’s BBQ in Salt Lake City made our list of the best barbecue spots in the U.S., and it’s easy to see why. This inventive eatery is perfecting the craft of vegan barbecue, with scores of positive reviews heralding its vegan brisket, VBQ platter, mac and cheese, and delicious rolls. Although Blatch’s is temporarily closed while the shop undergoes repairs due to a fire, we expect it will be up and running again by June—which is prime BBQ season! Updated hours will be released upon reopening.
July: Tuscany, Holladay
Summer is the perfect time to visit Tuscany in Utah, an enchanting restaurant with all of your favorite Italian dishes. You’ll be impressed the minute you arrive with this building’s gorgeous exterior. Additionally, all of the food on the menu is made from scratch every single day. The stunning Tuscany is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
August: Blue Iguana, Salt Lake City
The Blue Iguana is another well-hidden restaurant in Utah. Here, you will find the most delicious authentic Mexican food in Salt Lake City and beyond. Start with a tasty appetizer and pair your entree with a margarita. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a summer day (or any time of the year!). Blue Iguana is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
September: La Caille, Sandy
You will feel like you are dining in a true European castle when you visit La Caille in Sandy. This gorgeous upscale French restaurant features beautifully landscaped grounds, magical gardens, and the most inviting atmosphere. Plus, no matter what you order, your taste buds will thank you. La Caille’s hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Brunch can be had on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
October: Log Haven, Millcreek Canyon
You’ll be able to enjoy the fall foliage, gorgeous mountain views, and delicious food when you visit Log Haven during the autumn. This tucked-away restaurant is not only romantic and beautiful but delicious as well. You’ll find a wide range of options on the menu from bison and elk to seafood, giving you plenty of choices for your meal. Log Haven opens for dinner at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Reservations are taken until 9:00 p.m.
November: Cliffside Restaurant, St. George
When the weather starts to get a little chilly, head down south to sunshine, red rocks, and delicious food. At the Cliffside Restaurant, you will receive some of the most awe-inspiring views of St. George. This restaurant in southern Utah serves lunch and dinner, but no matter the time of day that you visit, we highly recommend you try one of the mouth-watering desserts. It’s just one of many restaurants with striking views hidden in Utah. Open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, the hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Closed on Sundays.
December: Shabu, Park City
End the year with the best freestyle Asian cuisine in the Beehive State. Shabu, located on Main Street in Park City, offers multiple menus, such as a sushi menu and a dedicated gluten-free menu. Give yourself plenty of time to eat in this restaurant, as the unique and extraordinary décor will certainly put a smile on your face as you savor your meal at one of Park City’s best eateries. Shabu opens daily at 5 p.m.
