Former Goodyear cop reprimanded for intentionally putting man in hot car as punishment

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A former Goodyear police officer has had his certification suspended after he admitted to intentionally punishing a man who allegedly placed two kids in a hot car.

The Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board voted on Jan. 21 to suspend Justin Gaspar’s certification for three years, in relation to his conduct during an arrest.

In June 2024, Gaspar responded to a call that involved a man having an argument with his wife in a parking lot while two kids were locked inside a vehicle. The children were in the car for about 15 minutes, according to information presented to the AZPOST board…
