AMPLIFIED: Sinking North Las Vegas neighborhood residents await new homes after decades-long issues

NORTH LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Residents of Windsor Park have waited decades for new homes after their neighborhood began sinking due to structural problems that emerged in the 1980s.

North Las Vegas community was built in the 1960s primarily for Black families and many of the original families remain. The development was constructed over an aquifer, and when water was extracted from underneath, the land began to shift, causing foundations to shift.

“It was built primarily for black families as a black neighborhood back in the 60s,” said FOX5 reporter Kim Passoth. “So a lot of people moved in, brand new neighborhood, a wonderful opportunity in North Las Vegas.”…
