Ann Arbor superintendent outlines safety rules ahead of students’ anti-ICE protests

ANN ARBOR, MI – Ann Arbor Public Schools’ chief administrator told families in a weekend message that the district supports students’ First Amendment rights ahead of expected anti-ICE protests this week.

“It has come to our attention that some of our AAPS students are planning demonstrations in coordination with nationwide protests,” Parks wrote. Earlier that day, schools and businesses across the country were impacted by demonstrations ― guided by the strike slogan, “No work, no school, no shopping” ― against federal immigration enforcement.

As of Monday, at least one protest had been shared on social media at an Ann Arbor high school slated for school hours later this week…
