A tractor-trailer hauling a massive load of steel beams narrowly avoided tragedy after the cargo pierced the cab during a crash on Lincoln Highway in Paradise Township, officials announced Monday, Feb. 2.
The crash happened when the driver was forced to stop abruptly, causing the 42,000-pound load of steel beams to shift forward and slam into the cab where he was seated, according to Paradise Township Emergency Management Coordinator Neal Doyle.
