MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Community leaders are calling out Governor Lee and Mayor Young ahead of the mayor’s state of the city address next week.
Members with MICAH say they’re concerned about the Memphis Safe Task Force and ICE’s presence in the city. They also question Mayor Young about collective bargaining talks they say are stalling.
“Ice is racially profiling our black and brown communities and separating families. When you compound these egregious practices and the assault that has been made on the working class of our city, it’s simply too much,” said Pastor Keith Caldwell, president of MICAH. “Laborers are the backbone of our city, those who labor wake this city up every morning and put it to bed every night.”…
