Two women plead guilty to preparing fraudulent South Carolina income tax returns

LOWCOUNTRY, S.C. (WCIV) — Two people recently pled guilty to preparing false or fraudulent South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns, according to a release from the South Carolina Department of Revenue.

Tyra Rochelle Buie, of Locust Grove, Gorgia plead guilty to one count of preparing false or fraudulent returns on Jan. 6.

Arrest warrants state that Buie prepared 43 federal and South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns with fraudulent business losses and deductions totaling to at least $1.8 million. The affected taxpayers reportedly sent her their information via text or email and those individuals did not know or consent to the fraudulent entries…
