HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry County leaders on Tuesday night will decide whether to accept a settlement agreement that would bring a 78-bed mental health hospital into the Burgess area of Murrells Inlet.
It’s a controversial proposal that drew strong reactions during a public meeting last week as Asha Vista Behavioral Institute made its case to renovate a former assisted living facility off Highway 707 near McDowell Shortcut Road.
Residents nearby the proposed location said they’re against it for traffic, safety and security reasons but others who attended the Jan. 28 meeting said Horry County needs more mental health resources…
