Ex-CapRadio general manager makes first court appearance over embezzlement charges

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CN) — Fidias “Jun” Reina Jr., the former general manager and CFO of Capital Public Radio, said little Monday as he stood in Sacramento Superior Court for his arraignment.

Reina, 61, faces felony charges including embezzlement, grand theft and forgery. Prosecutors have claimed he stole over $1 million from the NPR member station, with District Attorney Thien Ho saying Reina exploited his position for personal gain.

Not in custody, Reina stood silently as a Sacramento Superior Court judge briefly listed the accusations he faces. Reina’s defense attorney waived a formal reading of his criminal complaint, adding her client understands the charges against him…
