Domestic dispute ends in attempted murder conviction

A violent domestic dispute that erupted into a shooting left one man critically injured and has now resulted in multiple felony convictions in Gadsden County, according to a State Attorney’s Office news release.

A jury on Jan. 28 found Tamaric Jaquan Dilworth guilty after more than three hours of deliberations, convicting him of attempted second-degree murder, grand theft of a motor vehicle, battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. (The attempted murder conviction was a lesser-included offense of the original charge of attempted first-degree murder.)

Testimony showed the June 2022 incident began inside a residence, where Dilworth was physically abusing his live-in girlfriend, prosecutors said. The situation escalated when the victim’s cousin arrived at the home for a planned family outing and attempted to intervene after witnessing the abuse.
