New Orleans Rouses Opens With NOPD Substation Inside

NEW ORLEANS, La. (KMDL-FM) – Yesterday (2/3/26) Rouses officially opened their 8th location in New Orleans. The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by new elected mayor Mayor Helena Moreno as well as other council members.

Rouses Opens In New Orleans East

The new Rouses location opened yesterday in New Orleans East in the old Winn-Dixie building on Chef Menteur Highway. Rouses was able to keep all of the former employees of the previous Winn-Dixie including management staff.

Rouses officials said that the new store is not only about economic development but also about addressing food insecurity. Employees at the brand-new Rouses welcomed their first customers Monday morning, offering hot food and produce to a neighborhood that has been known as a food desert for years.

This Rouses New Orleans East location also contains a New Orleans Police Department substation inside of the store, a first for any supermarket in The Crescent City.
