‘Once you’re out, stay there’: Officials give safety tips after deadly house fire in Sand Springs

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. – The Sand Springs Fire Department responded to a house fire over the weekend off of Highway 51 and S. 137 W. Ave. Upon arrival, the crew found the elderly homeowner in the driveway, and his daughter had gone to a neighbor’s house to call 911. The homeowner’s wife did not make it out.

While the investigation into what started the fire is ongoing, officials say this tragedy is a reminder of how important safety planning is.
