Don’t fall for fake IRS calls claiming you owe back taxes

(WXIN/WTTV) – The Federal Trade Commission reports a spike in phone calls from scammers claiming to be from the IRS and telling potential victims they owe back taxes.

According to the FTC, the scam callers claim to be from the “Tax Resolution Oversight Department” and will try to connect you with a “tax resolution officer.”

“They play on your fears,” the FTC reports. “They threaten to take your driver’s license or sue, arrest or deport you.”…
