Hermon Jermiah entered a guilty plea Monday to the charge as part of an agreement in which a charge of kidnapping was dismissed. The agreement also included that the State would recommend suspended execution of sentence.
According to Lake County States Attorney Aaron McGowan, on June 25th of 2025, Jermiah picked up a 13 year old girl in Madison near her residence. The girl and Jermiah had communicated on Snapchat. McGowan said the girl told Jermiah that she was older than 13.
