EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon embarked on a groundbreaking environmental initiative on Saturday, planting 150 trees near the Frohnmayer Bridge. This effort marks the largest tree planting in the university’s history.
More than 80 community volunteers joined the event, contributing to the university’s ambitious plan to plant 455 native trees over the next two years. This initiative is supported by funds from an Oregon forestry grant.
“Something that we don’t think about is just how much it creates a sense of community,” said Emily Hamblen, a natural areas steward at the University of Oregon. “Having all these people come together because they want to make a difference on the land. It’s just really exciting to be a part of it.”…
