Spokane mayor urges action to extend protections for Haitian residents

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has called on Congress to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals.

Brown highlighted their roles as healthcare workers, small business owners, faith leaders and friends who contribute significantly to the local economy.

“I have witnessed firsthand how our Haitian community members with TPS are thriving in our community, including children in our schools,” Brown said in the letter to Senators Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell and Representative Michael Baumgartner, urging Congress to provide a clear, secure path forward for these individuals…
