CLAYTON — Indivisible Johnston County said concerned area residents will hold an “ICE Out for Good” rally and protest from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Clayton Town Square. The event is intended to remember Renee Good and Alex Pretti — both of whom were fatally shot in separate incidents involving federal immigration enforcement agents in Minneapolis — and to protest actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Both deaths have drawn national attention and prompted protests and investigations.
“We cannot stand idly by and watch the current administration murder American citizens simply for exercising their First Amendment rights,” Indivisible JoCo leader Mary Blank said. “We welcome all people to join us to remember Renee and Alex and to show our clear and strong dissent for the president’s policies. We support all our neighbors who are simply trying to make a better life here in this country, and are simply ‘yearning to breathe free,’ as it says on the Statue of Liberty.”…
