A young boy and his 59-year-old neighbor were rescued from a partially frozen pond in Cary, officials have reported. The incident occurred in a residential area off Caniff Lane, where first responders were called to the scene around 12:45 p.m yesterday. CBS 17 stated that the child attempted to cross the icy pond, led by curiosity after a snowy storm, and plunged through the thin ice. A nearby man, seeing the situation unfold, entered the water in a bid to save him before they were both rescued by firefighters.
The Cary Police Department confirmed that the pair were in water reaching approximately adult chest height.
