Sheriff Bouchard: 4-year-old drowning death ‘could have been avoided’

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) — The investigation into the drowning death of a 4-year-old girl at an Independence Township private athletic club is being finalized.

Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Deer Lake Athletic Club around 7:30 p.m. Friday for a possible drowning.

The 4-year-old Sterling Heights girl was on the pool deck, with two men and one woman performing CPR. Deputies took over until Independence Township Fire Department paramedics arrived…
