Ex-worker jailed in Kalamazoo graveyard scheme offers to help cemetery find the bodies

KALAMAZOO, MI — A former Kalamazoo cemetery worker was led through the doors of a courtroom in handcuffs, headed to jail thanks to a scheme that left people looking for their loved ones’ graves.

Police said Shaun Albertson of Kalamazoo embezzled while he was handling payments made to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, while taking money directly from customers. The scheme resulted in unmarked and unrecorded graves, police said.

Perhaps the most haunting? No one seems to know how far the scheme went…
