Fake Kentucky temp tags sold on Facebook — 71 seized after notaries arrested in sting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Temporary vehicle tags are illegally being sold online, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Side-by-side, it’s hard to tell the difference between real and fake plates.

Drivers with these fake plates are uninsured, which means it could cost you a lot of money if they crash into you. Two recent arrests took over 70 forged tags off the roads.

Police Chief David Mudd made those arrests in Bancroft, a small home-rule city in Jefferson County…
