Woman who admitted killing man in jail calls is sentenced to prison

Syracuse, N.Y. ― A Syracuse woman was sentenced to 22 years in prison Monday for fatally stabbing a man after admitting to the killing in recorded jail calls.

Destany Widger, 24, previously admitted to stabbing Jamar Martin, 32, multiple times with a folding knife inside 306 Basin St. on March 20, 2024. She pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter.

Martin was found five days after the stabbing, wrapped in a bloody blanket, police said in court papers…
