EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Local adventuring and exploring organization WE HIKE is asking the Borderland to get together at their annual Community Fiesta this Saturday, Feb. 7.
This year, the organization is bringing almost a dozen different vendors and activities to Chuck Heinrich Memorial Park in Northeast El Paso.
One of the major attractions for fiesta-goers this year is the inclusion of two hikes around the Northeast. The second of WE HIKE’s three-part hiking series kicks off at 7 a.m. Adventurers can register to trek through Mundy’s Gap. The challenging endurance hike traverses over 10 miles of rugged desert terrain with stunning rewards along the way. Hikers will ascend more than five miles of rocky terrain, following sections of an old jeep road, winding through washes, and moving from the north toward the west, where the desert opens up to iconic vistas and sweeping views of the Franklin Mountains.
